I want to know how someone can be a poser. Punks just a style I mean I LOVE fall out boy and I like the punk style. Please explain the true meaning of a poser...Because Everybody calls me a poser because I have a preppy personality but love fob and dress punk...IT'S JUST THE WAY I DRESS!!!!!!

You've got my sympathies!
In high school I had a lot of friends that dressed somewhere between "prep" and "redneck". I didn't have a set style. I have as many flannel shirts in my closet as i do pairs of baggy black pants with straps and chains. I wasn't a fan of the music in the way that you are. I loved the clothes. I was much more likely to be seen in black strappy pants and fishnet and leather chokers than I'd like to admit. In a way it was my way of outwardly displaying my darker side, a practice in admitting that there was both good and bad in me (I'm not sure that completely makes sense). I was never called a poser. I was viewed as an individual. No one really judged me on how I looked, but more on who I was.
Quite simply a poser is someone who both dresses and acts differently around different groups for their own purposes. If when you are around your preppy friends, dress exclusively in aeropostale, listen to top 40, and display a bubbly personality, and then when you are with your punk friends dress like a hot-topic advertisement, listen to punk, and adapt your personality to fit their own, then you are a poser. If you are always the same person, keep the same likes, and don't care who you're going to be around when you're picking out what to wear that day, then you are not a poser. A bit unique perhaps, but that's not a bad thing.

A poser is someone acting like someone they aren't. Which is probably why your friends are calling you that with you preppy attitude but punk influences. Are your preppy friends into fall out boys or dress like you?? They just don't understand so they have to make fun of you that's what kids do. Kids are a very mean bunch. I am sooo glad to be old. Ok maybe not glad tobe old but glad to not be a teenager anymore.

The only thing that is punk or emo is music.
Clothing or accesories have nothing to do with it.
That's just being a part of the scene.

poser means [[or at least to me]] someone who fakes who they are.. you seem "real" as in.. you dont follow the croud.. if its who u r tell them that. Just dont take it!
