Remember the big fires in Los Angeles some time back.Things would not have gotten out of hand if there was a water bomber base near Lake Meade.right now they destroy the B52s with a massive steel blade because of some arm reduction treaty.

You dont have to skimm the lake to fill it it can be filled while it is sitting on the ground,thats why i said lake meade

Good idea and they could take old KC 135 airiel refuelers and could use those to replenish in flight for really big fires

a b-52 is TOO big to be a water bomber. to be able to go slow enough to take on the water(by skimming) it would drop like a rock. most w/b's are designed to have a very slow stall speed which allows them to perform as needed
