If you start something can it every truly be finished this is my theroy i came up with when my mother said to me at least finish 3 of your chores.
This is how it works lets say you have 5 things and you finish 2 this must mean you have 3 things left to do, but since you finished your 2nd and now are on your thrid how can you have 3 things to do.
You finished your 2nd now you have 3 things to do but since you finsihed it doesnt this mean that you are now on your 3rd one. If you are on your 3rd one how can you have three more things to do.
You can never finish something you can only stop and add something new. With out starting the 3rd thing the 2nd thing would never end or would it? How could it end if you have you are always left with more to do. Explain to me please anyone what is wrong with this or help me explain it easier i am so ******* confused. sighs

kare bare> yes but once you finsh that 2nd thing out of 5 that still means you have 3 left. Then when you start the 3rd thing you must of course of finished the 2nd thing...but if you finished the 2nd thing you of course have to be on your thrid thing if its out of five so if your on your third thing you realy only have 2 things left to do. Not 3 but yet every one says you have 3 things left to do when you dont? becuz you started on your thrid thing.

1. YOU placed this question in the Mathematics category.
2. You are technically doing many things all the time. The chores on the list are only a small part of what you're doing.
3. Therefore, you can be finished with chore 2 and have three things left. You are between chores, but you are still doing something.
4. It is much easier to just do your chores than to try to make a philosophical argument against it. If I had to guess, I'd say your mother was not impressed in any way of your theoretical evaluation of the situation.

You're thinking too hard. If you finish two things, you have finished two things. The second thing ends after you finish it, and is independent of the third thing. For example, you could just do two things and then stop. You would then have done two things only, and would have three left to do. Take a break and you should be able to understand when you come back to the problem.

If your only measure is finishing then you will always have 3 things more to do until the current task is actualy finished then the counter drops to 2 things to do. Finishing must be the measure.
Otherwise you must add a new category. You have unfinished, finished and a new class called in process. Now your arguement is a bit stronger. You had 3 items left but you started one so you only have 2 left but you have one in process. This is often how we look at task lists at work. Work in process as its own classification.

Let me tell ya something. If you have finished your second chore, you are suppose to start the third one, but if for some reason you put together your five chores you are so wrong and that's why you got confused. Every chore is different from each other, UNLESS your mom tells you to put your shoes and socks on your closet. Then, that would be "two chores in one" BUT anyways, why mixing your five chores if none of them are related. Then your status is "Second chore done, third is yet to do" Lmao, just like that. Mix them up and you will get confused again!

take it this way.
you are already finished with the second one, now you are starting with the third
so you still have 3 more things to do coz you still haven't finished doing the third chore.
for example, you are reading 5 books
you just finished the 2nd one, and now you are starting the 3rd book.
you can't say that you still have 2 more books to read, because you atill haven't done it. it may be partly, but when you say done, you mean it whole.
and besides, if you say you still ave 3 more thi9ngs to do, you will panick and think that you should things faster. you'll progress and do it faster. makes the work get done faster

That is called "on-going" . Nothing to do with math. When you finished with your 2nd task, you are going-on to the 3rd task task but you have not done the 3rd task, so it can't be considered done, hence, you still got three more tasks to do. The 2nd thing would end even if the 3rd thing has not started because the only link in between is "on-going". Why do you think so deep and confuse yourself?

it is possible. If you have 5 things to do and you have COMPLETED 2, then you do have 3 more things to do, and because you have not started the third thing yet, that leaves 3, but when you start the third thing, that means that you have not completed it therefore you have to say that you have 3 more things to do. ONLY when you COMPLETE something may you call it finished. lol

yes, you can finish something. the reason you have three things to do out of the five is because you have finished the second thing. if you haven't then you still have four things to do.
It depends on how you define doing something. In this case it seems 'doing something' is defined as starting and finishing that thing. You have started your third thing yes, but you have not finished it, therefore you still do have three things to do; first you must finish your third thing since you have already started it, second start and finish your fourth thing, then third start and finish your fifth thing, making in total three things left to do.

if you finish 2 chores that means you only have the 3rd to go because you only had to finish 3,so that means you only have one left out of the 5

i'm thinking that if you finished your 2nd, and are on your 3rd, you would still have 3 to do because you did not finish the 3rd. as for the 'you can only stop and add something new'...well, that entire last part, i have no clue what you're trying to say there.
