The Ford F150 and Expedition will be available with a 4.5 liter turbo diesel V6 by 2008 or 2009. GM is probably working on the same thing, as is Dodge (DCX) presumably. Right now, you can't get a diesel in anything smaller than a 3/4 ton pickup in the U.S., though Ford does offer a diesel Ranger pickup overseas (it's a different model altogether), and DCX has their diesel Jeep Liberty.

Big difference between Europe and the U.S. is Europe's cleaner diesel fuel. The U.S. will be getting Europe's cleaner burning diesel starting next year, so look forward to ALOT more diesel offerings in the U.S. over the next few years.

Currently, only full size American trucks are available with a diesel inthe US market. Very few diesel cars are available, too. VW has pulled the diesel's from the market for the 2007 model year due to the increasingly strict emissions laws in the US. I don't know if anyone else is marketing diesels in the US. Mercedes Benz, maybe. Possibly Audi.

Most every other country in the world has all the brands available. Toyota sells tons of diesels everywhere else.

In Europe, most car brands have diesel models. Even Ford, GM, BMW, Honda and Toyota.

You may be able to find an old Toyota or Isuzu pickup on eBay. In the early and mid '80's those two brands had small diesels on the market in the USA.
