Without question that is Barry Sanders. He may be the best of even the ones that have won a Super Bowl. I say this without any disrespect to the great Jim Brown who played in NFL championships before it was called the Super Bowl but I just never get tired of watching Barry Sanders' highlights even though I am the biggest Pittsburgh Steelers fan. World Champions of the WORLD!!!!!!!!!!

I say Barry Sanders. You have to only include players who played in the last 40 years. After all you can only go by ones who COULD play in the Superbowl. Barry Sanders could have very easily taken that rushing title from Walter Peyton but retired because he was tired of the losing and lost heart for the game. He wasn't intrested in taking the personal records. Basically you have to tell me that these guys you are going to say are really better then Barry Sanders was. Do you really think O.J. was a better running back then Barry Sanders? Not a better personality because face it O.J. is now more remembered for his acting(commericals and The Naked Gun movies) then for his playing abilities. Half the people remember he played but can't remember the team. He wasn't that great in that sense. As to teh one who said Shaun Alexander, please stop naming ACTIVE players who can still win one. That is just stupid, espically when it isn't someone in what will likely be their last year. I mean if it was their last year that is one thing but come on he will be playing for a few more years.

Either Barry Sanders or Ahman Green for the Packers. Who was really good in the 03 04 season when the packers should have won the superbowl but the eagles came back on that 4th and 26 which a packer fan like me remembers well.
But I got off topic there.

Too many to give one answer. Depends on what type of back you want. Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, OJ, Dickerson, Sayers, etc. etc. my list could go on and on cause I would even take Eddie George pre-turf toe.
For the OJ haters though, he had somethin few others had, track speed. Dickerson was probably the only other one with that size and track speed to boot. Sayers was similar but his career was short.
