Absolutely.
Tampons will not bother you a bit, IF you use them correctly.
Here are a few tips:
Use the right absorbency. There are different types for heavier or lighter flows. I usually buy the Tampax Multipax....it includes 3 different types (Super, Regular, and Lite) so you can use what your body needs at the time.
Remember: if it feels uncomfortable when you put it in then it's not in right. It'll take a few tries to get it in there properly...just try it again. If you have to, use some KY jelly on the tip of it to help you get it positioned properly.
Also, if it hurts when you remove it then you need to use a lower absorbency.
Stick with "Unscented." The scented ones can cause infections/irritation is some women...and they don't smell all that great. Tampons aren't like pads....since you can't smell menstrual blood until it hits the air you don't have to try to mask the smell like you do with pads.
Finally: Relax. This isn't a big deal. Don't worry that your mom might be mad or whatever....she won't. Ask for her advice/help. I'm sure she'd be more than happy to answer any questions.
Good luck!

While different families have differing beliefs about the use of tampons vs. pads, there is no medical reason why most teenagers shouldn't use tampons. Some young teens find the idea of tampons horrifying, but those who are willing to try them generally learn to be comfortable with insertion. An added plus of tampon protection is that it frees up girls to more comfortably participate in sports, go swimming, etc.

Yes, it is ok, but be sure to change often, and also if it hurts when inserting, perhaps you should wait until you are more comfortable. I have also heard it that yes, you can lose your virginity from a tampon. How true this is, I don't know. But again, remember to change often, and shower every nite.

Yeah. I'm 16 and I use them sometimes. My mother is kind of against them, because you can accidentally break your hymen using them, which she defines as "losing your virginity." It's not the same thing. You lose your virginity when you have intercourse for the first time--not when your tampon breaks your hymen on accident!
So yeah, it's perfectly fine, normal, and very, very common.

I did when I was a teenager. Try the ones designed for teenagers. We didn't have those back when I was young.

I started using them when I was 13 years old. No problem. Other teens used them too without any problems. I found that they make me cramp more, not sure why.
