There is no other way around without hurting her feelings. Just tell her. If she gets her feelings hurt, then oh well. This is something that you really want to do and you need to take it seriously. Getting emancipated is not a joke. Nine times out of ten, the child's parents are hurt if they want to get emancipated. Let her know that you want your own life and you think that you can handle the pressures of being out in the world alone without her help. So all you can really do is just tell her.

Usually when a person wants to be emancipated, he or she wishes to be on their own. Do as they wish. In this case you will have to move from your home so that you can be totally on your own. In this way your mother will respect you more. But, if you decide to stay in the house, trouble will continue and will get worse. If you are a responsible person you can tell her want you want. Remember, mothers will be mothers and they usually want the best for their children, even if the children don't think so. I think you will soon find this out. Good luck on your emancipation!

Take your mom aside and calmly explain to her why u want to be emancipated. Shes going to be hurt either way. But if u have such a horrible relationship now then its best u let her know now instead of when u begin legal proceedings.

I would first spend 2 weeks on your own to see what its like to have to buy all your things. If you can support yourself....sit your mother down and tell her that you do love her even if you both have complaints about one or the other. Tell her it would be in your best interest you think to be emancipated, and that you don't want to hurt her feelings at all.

If your relationship is so horrible why do you care if you hurt her feelings? You know a relationship is something you have to work at from both sides! You give a little you get a little. Maybe you two should set down and have a talk, maybe with a mediator, someone who is or can be neutral, one day you may regret your problems with your mom!

well if you want to be emancipated, there probably isn't a good relationship to begin with. Feelings are going to be hurt, no question about it.

Tell her you want to have a positive relationship with her and you think it's the best way to save your relationship. Maybe have a trial period away from one another (staying with a family member for a few weeks), to see how it goes and get her used to it before doing the paperwork.

You can't tell her without hurting her feelings and I would really think about if you are ready to become an adult and be on your own. It always sounds nice, but those bills on the table have to be paid by someone.

If you really wanted to be emancipated, you wouldn't care about her feelings.
