The same thing happened to me once. Like you, I thought it meant I was pregnant but I wasn't. The test was just defective. I keep trying, took a test again, it was negative and I was pregnant! So the moral is, don't get your hopes up till you see your doctor.

I have read that even a 'faint blurry line" in the test window means you are pregnant.
The more HCG in your urine, the darker the line.
Best to test first thing in the morning, with the first urine of the day, as it contains the most HCG for detection.
Make sure the preg test isn't past the expiration date embossed on the package. And maybe buy a different brand than what you did before, just for a 'second opinoin". :o) Good luck.
Oh, and BTW, if you think you might be pregnant, start treating yourself like you are preg. Meaning no smoking or alcohol, careful with OTC drugs, and start taking prenatal vitimins daily now.
:o)

My first positive pregnancy test was with a very very faint line, you could hardly see it but it was there. If you are very early into the pregnancy the line will not show up twice a day. You should do it first thing in the morning since the amounts of hcg are very small. You can also try testing it every other day because the hcg hormone duplicates every other day.

I got blurry lines with all 3 of my current kids and the baby I am pregnant with now. See a doctor if not sure because I got a positive at the doctor's office.

I would go ahead and take another one, but the at home test are pretty accurate. I took a generic one just b/c I didn't think I was pregnant - just thought I was being paranoid. That test wasn't pink it was purple in about one second. I was totally pregnant.
So if it says negative tomorrow - it is negative. Once you have that answer you will start your period in another day or so - when the stress is gone.

Sounds like you might be but it's early. You can keep testing with the home tests but it can get expensive. The most accurate is to get a blood test from the doctor. I can't resist the home tests myself. If you want to try again be sure to do it first thing in the morning to get the best results.

I believe that you can not get a false postive reading because the pregnancy test is testing for hormones and if you have it through your urine you are pregnant, you can however have a false negative reading...there was not enough hormones in the urine to come up positive.

Check the sell by date on the tests. If you get one that is out of date that happens. I believe the chemicals that react with the hormones in your urine go bad after so long.

There is a pregnancy test on the market which clearly states spelled out "pregnant" or "not pregnant". I would try that one.
