All the answers are wrong. If you have good credit you can do a no-Doc loan and get a house. It is a name, adress, social security number. Bang you are approved. I have done several loans this way. There may also be a stated loan that you could do with better rates. I can help if you want more info.

You may not want to until you obtain work and feel secure with the position! I obtained two mortgages (4 years ago) for 2 different properties I was buying at the same time. I was able to get a "Stated Income" loan. This kind of loan generally requires a significant down payment ( for me it was 30% down) and other cash or assetts that are provable. I am refinancing those same two properties now with another "Stated Income" loan, and all I have had to produce has been an appraisal for the properties and a copy of my last two bank statements. Good luck, and make sure you can make your mortgage payments comfortably.

As long as you have a source of income you can get a mortgage. Job in the traditional sense is not necessary as long as you can demonstrate ability to pay.

Well if you have no income then you can't get a mortgage.
We have to be able to verify your income. Even it's not from a job,as long as it's verifiable and steady we can count it.
