On the last page when she asks Rhett "Where will I go, what will I do?" and she tells him that she loves him. But by then its too late. Does he take her back? Or has he been abused too much? Does the death of their daughter really mean (like he says) that their last reason to stay together is gone?
The sequel said otherwise, but I found that book contrived and boring. I would rather think about and imagine the answers to those questions myself. They are what makes the novel immortal. Margaret Mitchell knew how to leave us wanting more.

Chapter One: Full of foreshadowing :)
"I don't like Mammy Jincy's fortunes. You know she said I was going to marry a gentlemen with jet-black hair and a long black mustache, and I don't like black-haired gentlemen"

I think Scarlett is so full of herself that she doesn't know what love is let alone who she is in love with. Her feelings are very untrustworthy, and Rhett is right not to trust her at her word.

That would depend on which printing you're reading. The pages won't always fall the same way.

depends whether you're asking if she's conscious of that love. she loves him without knowing it from the first second she sees him at twelve oaks at the barbeque.

she knows she loves him about three pages from the end of the book.
