There are lots of ways. First, Ask Him. Second, ask any other families, brothers, sisters, cousins, kids, etc.
Third, go to the Social Security Death Index. It has the Month and Year of Birth and the Month and Year of Death on most persons who died since 1952 in the United States. You do need to know the name that their SS card was under.
State Vital Records are also the most official source. Funeral homes often have records of clients. If you haven't moved, or know where they lived, that might be a source. Is there a grave? There might be a marker there with the year of death.
Lots of choices.
If those don't work, drop me an e-mail at lsadams@ruraltel.net and I will come up with more.

So sorry for you to have to deal with a situation like this. Be considerate of your husband's feelings. If he took care of his mother for a long time, they probably were very close. Anyway, do a Google search for her name followed by Pennsylvania or the city & state where she lived. You may find an obituary published in the local newspaper where she lived. Good luck to you and your husband.

You would have to contact the public records for the state she died in... It might not be free, though...

you could try the first option and or try talking to his friends and their spouses. or any close people to him. Unless this was a pvt. small ceremony there mustve been some people that attended her funeral.
