It's hard because they end up going to war for months at a time, without anybody knowing for sure if they will come back alive. Also, war can cause psychological damage (like post-traumatic stress syndrome) so the guy might not even be the same person when he comes back, and that could just ruin the relationship anyway.

It is hard to date a soldier (I dated a guy in the Army) The distance and the fear of you going to war is always at the top of a girl's mind. A relationship with a soldier is one that must be taken seriously, and most girl's are not that strong. Keep looking though, one day she'll be right where you least expect it.

Sometimes they feel like he is looking for a quickie relationship (or lay) before going away. Most girls don't want to be used that way.
If the girl makes an emotional commitment to a soldier, he may be far away for a long time and possibly in danger. It takes a special girl to go into that with her eyes wide open.

Long distance relationships can be tough. I went through one myself. Which however worked out fine. My husband was in the Navy for 3 years, before we were married, and I was right there for him. He is out now and we are doing great. It is very hard to deal with the fact that the man you love may not come home. Also you have every oppertunity to cheat on her and she would never know and she has that on her mind. She may want to settle down with a family and not have her children go through that. I appreciate the men and women in the military, but the people at home have a hard time dealing with it too. There are women out there who will wait on you and stand by you, keep looking. Good luck.

You must realize that for the most part, soldiers are only looking for the physical...not a lasting relationship. If you find the uniform exciting, be prepared to analyze the situation for what it is. If you are willing to give yourself to this type of circumstance...DO NOT FALL IN LOVE!

Soldiers are ninety-nine percent of the time HOT. So I would find someone that can deal with the separation and has a very strong sense of life. And most of them are wild partiers.
