Water temporarily changes the appearance of cloth. Why? How?
And I know this question has nothing to do with beauty or style. It just didn't fit anywhere else.

I believe its because the cloth actually absorbs the water. Which then leads us to the molecular structure of the cloth. More than likely the molecules within the cloth abosorb (or connect) with the water molecules which in turn would also affect the entire cloth as a whole.

You see the cloth because of light. Water on the cloth refracts light thus altering its appearance.

cuz it gets wet..actually if you want it scientific the water fills in the air holes in the material. When the air holes are filled it over flows into the rest of the fabric not only making it heavier but usually makes it darker aswell.

Because when it soaks up water, the density changes. It also changes how it reflects light. (The reason we see different colors is because each object we are looking at reflects certain colors of the spectrum.)

Woah, neat observation. I have no idea why that happens, but now I'm gonna spread the thought around. You made me think. Thanx
