You basically buy questions (5 points a pop) you get points for answering questions. But other than asking, the only thing you can do with your points is count them.

You can use points by asking questions. When you start, you can ask 5 questions a day and each time you ask one you lose 5 points. You can gain points by answering questions. You gain 2 points for every question you answer, and 10 if your answer is chosen "best answer". When you start, you can answer 20 questions a day. Collecting a lot of points upgrades you to new levels, and then you can ask/answer more question each day.

the more points you get the more questions you can answer in a day, I don't think points are good for anything more than ranking.
