Communication is the act by one or more people of sending and receiving messages that are distorted by noise, occur within a context, have some effect and provide some opportunity for feedback.

There are basically 7 areas of communication: Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, Small Group, Organizational, Public, Intercultural, and Mass.

There are 4 types of Noise: Physical, Semantic, Physiological and Psychological.

There are 4 types of feedback: Direct, Indirect, Delayed and Zero.

We are all senders and receivers. Another word for sender is encoder, another for receiver is decoder. The act of producing messages is encoding; the act of receiving is decoding.
