today is the first of july, why are people sendign off fireworls, last i head the holiday was the 4th . . . (confusion sets in)

for people around my neighborhood, its a constant dare from June 15-July 8 to be blowing off fireworks without getting caught, i've even heard of some of my friends getting family to do it in other states

Because some people like smoke and noise and flashes of light, which is more fun than looking at stacks of fireworks sitting in their packages. In economics we called this a 'positive time preference'--which is to say we want it now. In ethics we call it lack of restraint. In morals we call it impatience. But in their minds they call it fun. Historical holidays have nothing to do with it. Most of those reveling in the noise have no idea about these things.

fireworks are fun!!! I would set them off any day of the year. Of course, I'm kinda pyromaniac.

early fourth of July, they set off all of the boring fireworks so that they have the good ones ready..... duuuuuuh......lol
