I don't get my period regularly. I only get my period once every few months, but I don't use birth control, so is it still possible for me to get pregnant? If so, how likely is it that I can get pregnant?

Possibly--but you can only try once every 3-4 months. You *always* have a period after ovulation, but you can have vaginal bleeding without ovulating before it (technically, that isn't a period, but you can't necessarily tell from the outside).

So you may be ovulating once every 3-4 months. In this case, you will probably be about as fertile (but less *often*) as a woman who is having regular cycles. You can determine if you are, in fact, ovulating by checking your basal body temperature (as someone suggested above); the problem with that is that it will only tell you when it is *too late* to conceive. But if you chart your cervical fluid *and* your BBT, you can know when you are getting ready to ovulate *and* if you did, in fact, ovulate after that. It will give you your best shot at getting pregnant.

For detailed explanation, please read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler. It is more complete than the Kippley book recommended by another answer, and it is non-sectarian. The Kippley book is written from a Catholic perspective, so if that appeals to you, you may prefer that one.

You may get pregnant, but the chances sound slim. If you are only getting your period every 3 or4 months that means your only ovulating every 3 or 4 months. you should see a Dr. i have polycystic ovarian syndrome and I only get my period 2 or 3 times a year unless I am on meds to regulate my period. i did get pregnant 2 years ago. I was shocked because I didn't think I could get pregnant. Go have it checked out its not healthy for you reproductive organs when you don't shed the uterine lining every month. Good luck.

well yes u can still get pregnant just cause u dont have a regular preiod dont mean anything i dont have a regular on i go sometimes months with out mine but i still ovulate witch i all that matters. and i have 2 kids now. but if i were u i would go talk to ur doctor about that cuase its not very good for ur period to be like that all the time. but if u want to know buy and ovulation kit to see when u are ovulating so u know when to not have sex if u dont want to get pregnant. but if u do well than u will know when to have sex but other than that u my still be drpping eggs even know u are not getting ur period. different ppls bodys work in different ways so its kind hard to actuly tell u for sure weather u can or not get pregnant and what ur chances are theres almost always a 50 50 chance. GOD works in wonderful ways

Chances are if you are not getting your period you are not ovulating, and if you are not ovulating that means you are not producing a egg, and without a egg you cannot get pregnant, the good news is as long as that is the only problem that is pretty easily corrected with medication. If you want to get pregnant see a dr, I actually suggest seeing a doctor anyway because if there is a problem you don't want it to run on.

I had no problem getting pregnant with getting a period every 3-4 months. I just did not know when I conceived.

Definitely!! I am very irregular, sometimes i wont get mine for 7-8 months, and then i may get another after 3 weeks! I however have had 2 sons. It can take longer if you're trying to fall pregnant, but you're as likely as anyone else to fall pregnant while you are menstruating, and the hard thing is you just don't know when that's gonna be.

You can get pregnant, but I believe it is much less likely than for a woman with a regular cycle. In your case, a visit to the doctor before trying to conceive to talk about your cycle length might be a good idea. There could be problems that could be solved with a little medical help.

Yes. At the time of your cycle when you're ovulating your body temperature rises and you can determine this from checking with a basal thermometer in the morning. By timing this with sex you can become pregnant. To learn more check out Natural Family Planning.

Yes, you can. All it takes is the one time when you're ovulating. Since you get yours once every few months you never know exactly when you're ovulating. Go to the doctor's about your periods. Once every 3,4 months is not good for the body.

You can't tell without a home pregnancy test or blood test. If your cycle is so long, maybe an ovulation kit or similar might help you work out when your conception window is open- for optimal chances. Good luck
