Get a mailing tube, or even one of those pool noodle thingys about the length that you want for your trunk. Then if I were doing it, I would make my main branches out of 1/4 pvc water pipe, poking holes through the mail trunk. Other smaller branches, made from rolled up construction paper could be glued on.

A palm type tree could be made from a couple of lengths of rolled up construction paper. Roll it tight, and then tape or glue the seam to hold it together. Cut down from one end about a quarter of the way, through all of the layers, and then let the top sorta spread out and flop over.

Consider a real tree: this is not a sarcastic answer about planting one, blah, blah, blah.

My mother took a tree that died on our property, cut it in half and attached it to one wall in my room. You could find a small tree that's dead and set it in plaster of paris in a pot: a ceramic one would be nice but consider the weight combined with the plaster when deciding. I've also seen this done in a local new-age shop where people tie prayer ribbons to the branches and it's very popular.

ridiculous why don't you guys plant some real trees instead in stead of playing .
and help the global environment in spirit at least
or put a real tree in a pot
would be less work than building an inferior one
