Take a course in Government and Economics

Then go about getting the most votes - with a target goal of 60 it should be easy

1. An election is like a war. You need to start the war on a positive side. Throw your name out there as a positive and nice person. Let everyone know you as a helpful, contributing, and active member of your community.

2. Don't make any derogatory comments towards opponents should campaigns occur. Play it clean.

3. Know the towns people very very well, almost to the point where you can remember or know the name of at least 50% of the people in the town.

4. Find the criminal code of your state, or books and comprehend basic civil law of your state. Understand what it takes to get someone into and out of prison.

If you're looking for funding for local projects, most of that would come through the county, state or federal government. For starters, I'd connect with your state and federal representatives and senators. But I'd also really have to think about taking on the job of mayor if your starting with such a lack of experience. Being the chief executive of any municipality, even a very small one, can be a total pain in the butt. I must say I admire your willingness to serve your community. Good luck.

Well the first thing you need to do is to find out is where the city hall is then go there and get all the information you need, prepare a list of questions then call the current mayor and ask for an hour of his time so you can interview him and find out.

You would have to study politics, a degree in anything would help, no criminal record is nice. But mainly, you should know what the people want.

Really though, go get a degree in politics, keep up to date on every political happening, and I would think, just learn everything there is to learn about government.
