France deserved to be awarded a penalty for the handball made by Ronaldo in the penalty box! For god sake, FIFA it is about time you rely on the video evidence. The Spanish referee is obviosly biased and is depriving France of many free and corner kicks. France was almost robbed because of his favoritism!!!

I totally agree, alot of quality teams have been robbed of places in the round of 16 etc. from terrible refereeing.
For example.. the penalty awarded to Italy against Australia was CLEARLY not a penalty and as a result Australia were knocked out. Referees are showing favoritism to the bigger nations thats why the four finalists contain 3 previous winners of the cup.

The truth is sports is evolving, every year athletes are better but the referees in most sports are still not professionels, and that is the issue there, It is getting harder for them to keep up with games pace and so on ... First the referees have to become professionels then Fifa and everybody else should stop the msytification, If it is not the big nations getting the calls, it is hosts nations and then please if you can not help African nations at least don't kill them by being so one sided! the only controversial call going Africa way was the penalty for Ghana against the USA, and altough it is tough there is still a small case there.

Have you forgotten Korea already?

FIFA, NBA, they all have special
rules for special talents. As long as
Ronaldo has legs, he'll get his share
of calls - or non calls. But that's not even
close to the "homer" screw job given to
Korean opponents in 2002. The last
World Cup saw the refs lift up not just
a superstar or two but an entire team.
Now that's "the WORST!!!"

To put it another way: without the
hometown officiating, how far did the
Koreans get this time? That's right.
Not far. Not far at all.

My vote for worst officiating: 2002

Well its not so much the referee thats at fault. FIFA has set certain rules that they have to follow. Like certain tackle will lead to a automatic red or yellow card. And maybe some of them are just intimidated by the big stars, who knows.

What's to referee? Nothing happens! I watched it today and couldn't believe how boring it is!!!!!!! No scoring until the end penalty shots. Big deal.
I think that a cocker spaniel could referee soccer!

i have to agree with beekiss. i have tried and tried to enthusiastic about this world cup thing. i have even gone as far as to pick out the cute players to keep me motivated but you as you sit there for hours and hours and it gets down to a penalty kick, gosh why do they just have a kicking contest.

I agree with you
I'm disapointed with the refs, they can completly change the game around and they can't be bad at their job, or else it can cost the teams everything
