Should be okay to wait and see you own doctor.

Reasons to go to ER include shortness of breath and unbearable pain. With rib fractures, there's really not to much to do except control the pain. Though I have seen cases of collapsed lungs and bleeding around the lung, those don't occur to frequently. Both these senerios require immediate medical attention.

And don't use a rib brace. They set you up for a pneumonia.

A broken rib has to heal on its own. If you are in lots of pain, I would recommend going to the ER to get pain relief and then you can get an x-ray so you know for sure if it is broken. If you are not hurting that bad or if you can tolerate pain easily wait until Monday
to see your doctor. Only advantage there would be the fact that it is cheaper plus the ER doctor will recommend you to see your primary doctor in 3 days. More than likely you will be on bed rest for at least a week.

I would definitely go see your Dr. for treatment. You need to have an x-ray to confirm or deny it is cracked or broken. There are some serious complications that could arise if not treated depending on the severity. If it is broken bad enough there is a possibility you could puncture a lung.

Typically ribs are treated with time. There is not much you can do besides time and rest. However, when you sneeze it will be a whole new experience in pain. Go to the Dr. a.s.a.p.

If it's cracked, there is no treatment for it. You need to be careful not to reinjure the rib in the next month so that it doesn't break further and puncture your lung. But unless you excruciating pain, it will be feeling better in a few days and you'll be fine. You can call the doctor if you want reassurance, but it's a holiday weekend, so don't expect to get in for an appointment before Wednesday anyway. By then you're past the pain anyway.

If you seriously think you have broken a rib, then you really need to go to the doctor. If you need to call for an ambulance then do that. There are other things that may be going on so to be on the safe side I'd get checked out.

I would wait and just see your regular doctor. There's not much they can do. Unless you think that it has punctured a lung then go to the ER.

You should get it checked ASAP. If it is broken, it could shift and puncture your lung. You need to have x-rays to determine how bad it is broken and if it has moved out of place.

Normally, they will stay where they belong and heal slowly, but better safe than sorry!

go to the ER, if you have a broken rib, a bone shard can puncture your lung, and if you want to get rid of that pain you should go now, after bruising sets it your pain will double, please go, you will thank yourself later, when you are eating those pain pills
