We were in Boston over the 4th of July weekend in 2005 to see the sights and the fireworks on the Esplanade. We stayed at the Doubletree hotel on Washington St., next to the Tufts-New England Medical center. Its located right next to the theater district and Chinatown about 6 blocks south of Boston Commons and about 11/2 miles from the Esplanade. We found the Doubletree to be great, the staff and concierges were wonderful, plus they have a pool, cafe and upscale restaurant. Rooms are in the $100-125 range but parking will cost you $32 per day. Hope this helps you.

The colonnade hotel on Huntington Ave is relatively inexpensive but classy. It's right across from Cheesecake Factory and the Prudential Tower. By the way, experience dining at the Top of the Hub (Pru Tower).
Have fun!

There are several quality Hotels in Boston for less than $100/night on July 15, 2006. They are:
1 -Holiday Inn Boston Conference Center, can get you a room there for as low as $85/night.
2- Wyndham Chelsea. Quite nice; you can stay there for as low as $99/night.
These are unpublished rates as of today. Based on availability.

You may have to look alittle outside the city. For instance, Sommerville or Chelsea.
