I'm English but thought the whole flag thing was a little OTT purely because of the danger of losing before the semi finals..I noticed on my way home thought that lots of flags were still up hours after we had lost... what's all that about.. is is nationalism now?

I am a bit sick of seeing the flag because unlike America where flags seem to fly all the time, the UK only seems to put it up during international football matches..

I sure hope so. The Brits are so arrogant considering they have not won anything in 50 years. With their crappy football they deserved to go home. Dont get me wrong in this game Portugal didnt play a whole a lot. But in the past 4 games leading up to it, Portugal definetely showed more finesse and more heart, and England just showed that they can win a game if they get lucky and the ball hits YAO MING CROUCH's head, a good spot free kick and maybe 60 minute player Beckham can score, or an own goal.

Why should we take the flags down? Obviously it looks like as soon as the chips are down(and in our case out) you are a deserter and will leave the support. The flags are staying up to show our respect for the players. Do you know how much pressure this was for them and how absolutely crappy they are feeling right now because they think they have let us all down? To see one flag would show them that we are still proud of them for all their efforts, which we are. The flags helped us show our support and by staying up they will show our continuing support for them

I live in TX, USA and I'm proud to fly my England flag as well as to have my stickers on the car. The flag will fly while the world cup is still being played. Yes we lost, but I am proud of what we did in Germany.

People should fly the flag proudly of whatever country they live no matter what the current status of their sports teams hold, always.
Some hold allegiance to where they come form and where they live at the same time.

No we will not take our flags down for a while, we are proud of the effort our team made, they did us proud, it is the referee`s who spoil the result of our first class players. Well done England you have done us proud, and fair play does win in the end.
