Was it a lack of something, or were the French just really good today?

Brazil is a unique team. They are loved by many and hated by many. The many they hate are the ones they wished they had a team like Brazil. France really didnt play worth a crap either today but Brazil absolutely played horrible. There are many factors attributing to this. First of all Brazil underestimated France. Because they have been of the football world charts in the past 6 years. Secondly Parreira is known to build his teams on a more defensive scheme. Which does not work well for a team built on pure finesse. And finally the French play ugly football. They play defense and hope that Zidane can show some brilliance and pick some open spots for teammates via free kicks or long passes. They slow the game down. And Brazil hates that. France because of their style was the only possible handicap in front of the Brazilians and they could not get past it. Overall France had two shots on goal where they converted on one. In fact on the first one. Brazil had only one shot on goal towards the end, where they were not as lucky as the French. French are incredibly arrogant people. Though always racist when it comes to a championship they are on their feet clapping for a 90% black, and naturalized citizen national team. I certainly hope that Portugal sends them back to France. Where they can smoke their cigarettes, continue being arrogant, and sit at a cafe. And maybe just maybe someone will walk by and introduce them to some razors so the French ladies can shave their armpits.

At the beginning of this WC, the *HYPE* (along with the propagandist "Joga Bonito" Nike commercials) surrounding Brazil was astounding. You'd think eleven super-human beings, with skills never seen by any man were going to step onto the field and...defy gravity, change the laws of physics, and win everything - AND, do it with style, flair and "beautiful" football. The way the experts were calling things, why even have the WC? Might as well just give Brazil the trophy and call it a month!
Well, what happened? Brazil crashed and burned, and they played UGLY! Ghana could have beaten them, had two clear offside goals not been given to Brazil, and Australia gave them a good scare as well.
The coach also selected an "old" team - Ronaldo, Cafu, R. Carlos, etc...who did absolutely NOTHING!
They beat Japan (not a knock on Japan BTW)! WOW - STOP THE PRESSES!
And Ronaldinho??? Guess he can go back to doing commercials.
He's good at that, at least....
This was not your Pele`/Garrincha/Rivelino's Brasil, and not your Zico/Socrates/Cerezo/Falcao's Brasil.
Today's Brasil earned a new nickname: The Brasilosers.... ;^)

As Brazilian players get older it seems that they are getting worse and worse every continuing World Cup... As of today's actions Ronaldo once known as the best soccer player in the World does not look confident on playing soccer any more from back then when he was young. His Real Madrid career of the 2005/2006 was also really disappointing scoring only 14 goals, 1 yellow card, 0 red cards, played only 1831 minutes through out the whole season! pretty good and bad.

U gotta understand that France is just out right better than Brazil (at least today). Especially in the midfield, Zidane took control of the mid and he made plays happen for his team and another thing is that the french defense was outstanding and couldn't be penetrated

Do you know what really happened?... during the whole world cup, Brasil never got to meet a team at their level, the countries in group F, Croatia, Australia and Japan, were not high caliber teams... playing against Ghana in the round of 16 was easy cake until the only match they really got was France, and it happened to be in the quarterfinals.

Brazil lost!!It's horrible. But Brazil played awafully bad yesterday!!No teamspirit, noyhing.Something was wrong with Ronaldo,Ronaldinho,Kaka,Cafu and all of them. Not to say Roberto Carlos was pathetic.
France was not too good either, just a bit grounded!!Brazil played defensive yesterday.Sad they had too go sooo early.A little more effort and they would have won the Cup!!It was a good team overall!!!

Well ,better luck next time!

The bigger question should be what is up with soccer at the highest level? This has been a terrible World Cup--virtually no scoring, hardly any shots on goal, too much diving, etc. I'd rate this so far worse than 1990. Just absolutely brutal and unwatchable.

First of all Pancho you are an idiot. France has TONS of black people... they aren't naturalized, they are BORN there. I am the biggest Zidane fan there is. Even though he is of Algerian decent (Muslim) he could still be born in France and not be considered a naturalized citizen. You have to be really ignorant to think that only caucasions live in France. Hello!! Ever heard of colonizing and the 1800s?... Altogether I am glad France won. The match really wasn't Brazil vs. France. It was Brazil vs. Zidane.

I'm sad too, but Brazil was just so slow today and then we had Ronaldo fishing for a free kick...France was the better team today.

Anyway every sport has to have a winner and a loser and in this case, sad as it is Brazil lost....

I think they became too Confident about their own abilities and in turn resulted in a slack performance. Brazil should learn from this! - Never underestimate any of your opponents. Always be in a alert and Ready-Attack Mode in all their games until final victory is achieved!
