Seriously, post after post of people reading propaganda about Israel.
palestinians do not want peace, they kill time after time. They kidnapped a soldier and they get everything they deserve. It is amazing how some people turn a blind eye to when palestinians kill innocent Israel citizens but when Israel mistakenly kills a family picnic'ing then the world is outraged.
I hope Israel destroy the Hamas government, it doens't deserve to be on this earth.

And I hate the excuse how Israel stole their land. You know that Palestine would have civil wars and ethnic cleanings if it was its own country. Israel has been a peaceful pro-western country.
Land is stolen all throughout history. We took it from the natives. The natives took it from different tribes and fought over it. Its just how humans are. And in those days especially

"But how can supposedly ultra-religious people treat each other so badly? Isn't the whole point of religion to teach us how to live in peace with one another. Wasn't religion meant to be a civilizing influence?"
Religion was meant to be mind-controlling and keep the people under control. Such as a leader would say "I am a prophet of god! Don't disagree with me" in fear of rebellion.
Islam preaches to wipe Jews out. This is why there is no peaceful sollution. Israel gave Palestinians their land and they still weren't happy. Its becasue their goal isn't to take Israel, but to wipe out the jews to please their mythical Allah.
All religions suck. But atleast Christianity and Judaism doesn't preach to kill. Even though they preached not to kill-- look what happend. Now imagine a religion that blatantly preaches to exterminate non-believers.

There's the religious component. Crazy anti-Semitism has always been around. This never changes; what changes are the excuses people come up with to justify their hatred of the eternal people. Today this is largely directed at the State of Israel, seen as the "collective Jew of the world".
Plus the Bible talks about God bringing the Jews back to the land of Israel, and then the nations going up against Jerusalem.
Then there's the tendency in modern-Liberalism to support groups from the third world who oppose Western civilization, no matter how barbarous these groups may be. This is seen in radicals from the US, UK, Europe, supporting militant imperial Islam.

I'm not taking sides here. I'm just answering your question.
There is a big anti-Israel backlash because the press makes it looks like Israel is always "swatting a mosquito with a sledgehammer". That may be an incorrect perception, but that's how the press portrays it.
To the Palestinians I say, if you are really religious, then you must believe that god wants all his children to live happy and healthy lives. No matter how much you dislike the Jews, approach the situation like this: maybe god is saying "I am making you cohabit with these irritating people so you can prove how compassionate and virtuous you are. The Jews are your test of character".
To the Jews I say, there must be a better way than to keep pummelling the Palestinians with the full force and fury of your military might.
I have no real answers. I'm not taking sides. There is more than enough blame to share.
But how can supposedly ultra-religious people treat each other so badly? Isn't the whole point of religion to teach us how to live in peace with one another. Wasn't religion meant to be a civilizing influence?

I think the question is false to begin with. I dont think many people besides the radical muslim community are Anti-Israel. The reason so many people around the world come off as Anti-Israeli is because the world and the American liberal press think that the United States is an Imperial power and Isreal is just another pawn the United States uses to force its will on another part of the world. I think Isreal has earned its respect by protecting themselves for so many years in such a hostile part of the world. The Israelis have no choice but to use force! They withdrew all settlers from the gaza strip and the palestinians still use force agaisnt the country. If i had to anwser the question i would say peolple are anti-Israeali because the world is Anti-American.

You're somewhat right, some people ARE blindly anti-Israel. Then there are people who have taken the time to look at the indiscriminate bombings, the IDF shooting children for target practice, the tactic of punishing the entire Palestinian community for the crimes of a few..granted, Palestinian terrorists commit heinous acts against humanity for which they must be swiftly punished. That said, taking out the power of the entire Gaza strip, cutting off EVERYONE'S water, shooting innocents indiscriminately, killing aid workers just to keep injured Palestinians from recovering, etc. is NOT acceptable in the face of suicide terrorism.

Where are YOU from? Have you SEEN/READ AMERICAN media? It's full of Pro Israel tripe. All I ever see on TV are Palestinians carrying AK47s. ANd who do you think the media shows to be Iraeli? Children and women. I'm sure there aren't any of those who are Palestinian, right?
I'm not saying that I'm pro-Israel or pro-Palestinian, because if I were that would mean I'm pro killing people. I just wish people would show us the TRUTH, not just the BLATANT one sided bias that is OBVIOUSLY pro-Israel. Most media higher ups ARE Jews. Perhaps, if people used OBJECTIVE words and showed us what is going on both sides, THEN and only THEN will people stop being so blind.
'm sure if I was watching the BBC pro-Arab tripe, I would be saying the opposite thing. I don't think I would really know the truth unless I lived in the Holy Land...NO ONE WILL.

They aren't. I am completely pro-Israel. I think we have reached a point, where we need to pick a side and let if wipe the other one out and solve this issue once and for all. The Palestinians lost their land to displaced Jews from Europe. That's the truth, but hey we took America away from a whole variety of Native American Tribes. And thank goodness we wiped them out and don't have to deal with terrorism from them trying to recover their lands. Imagine Hurons, Cherokees, Delawares, etc. bombing the snot of our land to get back their ancestral homelands.
The unfortunate bottom-line is that if you take a man's home, don't leave him standing to come back for it.
And if you do and he wants to keep fighting, well then you are obliged to make war so terrible for him that he never considers it as an option again. Sherman knew this and made sure that war was terrible for Southerners that they would never again think of it as an option.
History is full of peoples coming and going. Perhaps its time for those who can't seem to choose peace to get off the bus.

Do you not understand war? Yes, what the Palestians are doing right now is not the most ethical thing in the world, but you have to remember that Israel is breaking the UN law by establishing new settlements. They took land that was not theirs... and yes they killed a lot of people by doing so. Just because you have a way of doing things doesn't mean that other people agree with it and vice versa. You have to understand international politics before you can as a question like be out becoming offended easily. (I do not agree with hamas in the least bit. I do not condone killing.)

Because such Anti-Israel persons are cursed Anti-Semetic persons that are ungrateful for the Gifts of the Jews.
As a Christian who is a descendant of the lineage of King David, King Solomon and the linage of High Priest Aaron let me say that I hope the Hamas Govt is sent to the flames of Hell for their Anti-Semetic activities and I thank God that Cat Stevens the funder of Hamas was banned from America and Israel.

Execellent question!
Not everyone is anti-Israeli...I have bumped into some people though who have claimed to be anti-zionist.
Part of the reason why many people criticize Israel left and right (not a politics pun!) is that Israel is given the green light to defend itself at all cost. The U.S., U.K. and several other industrialized nations okays the Israeli army to go to great lengths to not only eradicate terrorism but at the same time use excessive force on civilians who are not always associated with politics. Because of the stubborness of the militants and lack of a quick disarment as the Prime Minister has promised, 1.3 million people in Gaza, regardless of political affliation or non political affliation are being punish and labeled as terrorists supporters. And while Israel has the right to defend itself. I believe it should defend itself, collectively punishing an entire population and not distinguishing between militants and ordinary civilians would anger anyone. If any other nation acted with such force they would be condemned by the U.S. or other nations.
Just imagine the U.S. sending an army into North Korea (I apologize for this scenario but it fits the tensions in Gaza a little too well.) to search for a missing American soldier after his plane was shot down over Pyangyong. The American army than uses excessive force on a mostly civilian population. The North Korean militants absord easily into the population claiming to defend the ordinary people against "American escalations and aggression." Imagine the consquences if the Americans indiscriminately fired at anyone crossing their path not stopping to distinguish the ordinary civilians from the militants or terrorists. Imagine how ordinary North Koreans citizens would feel waking up with ruined power plants and already suffering from sanctions because they refuse to recognize the U.S. right to use power to disarm them of their nuclear weapons and defend itself from attack. Now think of the president saying, "We will not pull back until our soldier is return to us in freedom and dignity." Yet the militants refuse and U.S. tanks roll across the streets of Pyangyong and other cities and towns throughout North Korea. No doubt frightening ordinary citizens who are all labeled as militants or supports and supporting terror infrastructure by most of the world. And to apply more pressure to the militants in hopes that their soldier is returned, the army arrests the government officials of the North Koreans weakening their already fragile government. Yet, the U.S. does not end its incursion until its soldier is returned safely.
All the while the media tells the world that the U.S. is defending itself against a population that supports terror without giving the viewers any backgrond information on why the people support terror over a calmer and non violent form of resistance. And there is no mention on how the ordinary civilians have been not been able to tell their story to the world because they are all labeled as violent terrorists and irration. The U.S. officials watching the escalation in North Korea than say that the people under siege shouldn't tell their side of the story because it will breed anti-American sentiment. So the viewer is left with only one side of the story and they agree with the U.S. and its fight against terrorism without any background knowledge on the civilians caught in between the militants and the U.S. army.
Sorry for the rather long scenario but that is how people view Israel's fight against terrorism, and it is true we do not hear about the plight of the Palestinians or the reasons for why they choose to follow Hamas. But not all Palestinians are terrorists, and not all support Hamas' motives. The Palestinians believe in Freedom and Democracy like everyone else and they are civilians trying to live their lives like everyone else only a minority of Palestinians follow Hamas. And I am not anti-Israeli or anti-American.

I am a christian, and you should not turn you back on Israel because it says in the bible that the Jews are the chosen people of GOD. I love Israel, because GOD loves Israel. The comment by another answerer saying that Christians don't like Israel is not true. I believe if America does not stand with Israel we will fall just like the ones that are against them. I would rather be with GODs chosen people than against them.
