They don't. The picture was taking of someone in inverted suspension, so the stockings were actually hanging down by gravity, and the picture was then rotated to give the impression of the stockings staying up.

A pair of firm thighs like yours to hold up the elastic top usually does the trick.
Personally, I can't wait to take 'em off at the end of the day/night. I prefer garters.

They are just over the knee stockings, really a lot like knee sox but a little longer. They are made with a lot of Lycra and have a double band on top usually with a little bow. put a dot of super glue on the front and back...it doesnt hurt to take em off and the super glue usually just comes off woth the stockings

Plus the elastic could help to or else you got sticky stuff on your legs? Like miss american contestents do so their panties don't ride up their butts when their on the run way.

They look so opaque they are probably loaded with Lycra. It makes them very stretchy so they stay up like over the knee socks,

They have some rubbery stuff on the insides of the openings of them. I have a pair of neutral ones at home;).
