Houston has a wonderful museum district. Natural Science Museum this month features the "Body Works" museum. You will still be about 30-40 minutes from Galveston/Kemah/Seabrook---for the water parks and beach. Good luck and if you need vacation just be sure you do something relaxing to your body and soul---even if it's just a home hideaway from the world---have fun!

It depends where you live. I would say my place, but I don't know you yet.
Galveston has great fun in the sun, stay at the Galvez Hotel on the Strand.
If you want to go camping you can go to the Frio River, I would say it's the spot if your into tubing & just floating in the river.
If you like boating Cayon Lake,Texas has a lot to offer, also their are condo's to rent on the North side of the lake or you could stay at a real cool lodge called Turkey Cove Lodge, Owner Doyal Patton is a cool guy. Nice rooms with a kitchen and antiques in the rooms. Great view.

South Padre Island near Brownsville is by far the best beach in Texas. Huge sand dunes, beautiful water, and good surf. Also very reasonable hotel prices. Also your close to several Mexican border towns so you can do some shopping.

Rent a lakehouse on Lake Travis. Spend the day in Austin and relax at the lake at night.

Gavelston is wonderful. It has a surfer hippie vibe, but a lot of history at the time. Moody gardens are a lot of fun and they just built a new schlitterban. It's my fav. vacation spot.

Try the Democrat part of Texas, its not big, but there is less chance of you being tarred, feathered, and being preached at.
