listening is great because it will hold the attention span, but nothing can replace reading a book - you absorb more detail when you read

Sure! When you listen, it's ostensibly a more theatrical experience - you get to appreciate the reader's intonations and inflections.

Personally, though, I don't think anything can replace the feeling of holding a book, lingering over the words, flipping back to check on a detail or remind oneself of a particular moment. It's wonderful to be able to control how fast you race through a particularly well-written or gripping scene -- or to read more slowly during lyrical, lovely prose.

In my opinion, no.

Books on tape are great for people who can't take time otherwise to take in a good story, or for people who are blind (I have a number of blind friends). But you have little if any real control over how fast you listen to the story.

On the other hand, if you have a book with pages, you can take as much time or as little as you want to enjoy a passage. And if there is a word you don't understand, you can look it up without losing your place.

I really have never done that -listen to books on tape but,
it seems that my mind would wander more if I was listening.
maybe if you did both at the same time all of your senses would be involved and it would be a more focused experience and you would get more from it or retain more of the book

Yes, i believe so. When reading the same topic and listening, always have a open heart and and see if it lines up with God's Word.

Not for me. I get more involved in a book when I read it.

Depends on why you are doing it. You certainly won't learn new words and how to spell them that way.
