how big is your house? how many units do you have? is a roof top or split system? if is a split system do you have to replace the condenser only or the furnace and coil as well. if you have to replace the condenser be wise to replaced with a 13 SEER wich is more efficient and you be saving money on the long run. where do you live? sorry but is a lot know before to a give you a good answer good luck

depends on the size you need, but the guys at Home Depot or Loews will give you a free estimate, just a suggestion; if you live near a new subdivision being built, chances are you can find an ac company working in there and an ac tech that would be willing to do it as a side job thus saving you big bucks and most will not rip you off

This is not as complicated now due to Heating & Air companies using one compressor to fit all. Depending on where you live you should get this done for around 1800.00 for a compressor including installation.
You can get an idea from Lowe's. This is for the compressor(outside unit)
