ok well it could be both a girl or a boy name because any name can be a boy or a girl name if you want!!! Then it is used as a boy name in the movie, Bambi. It is also a girl name because people use it as a girl name. So whatever you want is what it is....is pretty much what I'm saying!!! I did not use any research fotr this but the sources I used can be a help.

Bambi was the name for the baby deer in the movie so it was for a boy there.

However I am a woman from Spain and myhusband (who is also part Spanish) always calls me Bambi whenever he wants to cheer me up.
it can be used for both boy or girl.
