Depends on how you're setting up the network...

But typically you'd want all your computers to be up to date with all of the security patches, and you'd want the connection from your network to/from the internet to be securely firewalled and a good mail filter on the incoming mail. Why? if one computer on your local network is comprimised, it can be a launching ground to attack the rest of your computers, or could become a zombie computer sending stuff out to outside computers...

yes, because every individual computer in the respective network will receive a distinctive IP address (such as 167.2.120.55). if the servers could block all internet virus aggression, we wouldn`t need anti-virus software, would we?
