The reason that MVP Baseball is not in shelf this year is because EA Sports lost their rights to produce any MLB game to ESPN games and others, meaning that the game can't use any MLB players and stadium, major or minor league. If use without a proper contract by MLB would violates those rights and would be fined because it's MLB that licenses those games and they have "copyrights" of every player and stadium use in that game, except for Barry Bonds or other non-union players. EA Sports decided to forgo MLB and got the exclusive rights to NFL, which means that only EA Sports can produce NFL games (Madden), not others. Instead, EA Sports release NCAA Baseball 2006 this past January as a cheap replacement to MVP Baseball because players name are not used and saw the sales of their popular NCAA Football games that they pursue college baseball. Unless they can work out a deal with MLB, I don't see MVP baseball coming out anytime soon, with all their money invested in the NFL.

ESPN Sports bought the rights to all pro baseball games just Like EA sports bought the rights to all pro football games. So EA Sports can't make a pro football game but they did make a college one.
