A dash or a tilde?
Hold down the alt and use the keypad numbers to make special characters. Believe this was alt 241 tho I've seen it as 164 and 165. You can also copy and paste from the windows character map under Accessories/System Tools. Might vary with your fonts and such.

Hold down the Alt key and on the keypad, enter the decimal code number for the character(letter)..

For the spanish ñ, use Alt + 164.. ( or Alt + 165 for Ñ).
Be careful about using for an email name or email id, as some email servers will choke on it.
