No, he didn't deserver it. If you're asking a question it should be is soccer (football) turning into a girly girly sport that will make everyone stop watching cause the refs do nothing about the lack of sportsmanship. any team that gets in the top 5 has mastered diving, having the hand up in the air the first, crying and being girly girls. Rooney couldn't see a thing when he low blowed the guy. he was too busy taking control of the ball like he always does.

Yes he did. Keep in mind that he did not get the card for stepping on Ronaldo. He got the card after the whistle, when he swore at Ronaldo and shoved him. The red card is automatic in that case; the ref had no choice. Patrick Kluivert (Holland) did the same thing in '98 and got a 2-match suspension.
So yes, Figo should have gotten a red card for the head butt in the last game too. The ref didn't see that one.

not silly! although I don't care too much for him, but in fairness he was lumbered with far too much pressure, for 20yrs old, and still trying to get over his inured foot.
the whole of englands supporters were on his shoulders, every time he got to the ball everyone expected a goal, and he was on his own up front.
the card was harsh, by a referee who should be aware of the above, and in his wisdom given a yellow card, and try to calm down the anxious players, after all that is a part of his job, keeping control and disiplin.
but there you have it, just my opinion, some will agree with this others will have a fit about it.
Whatever we all say it is now written in the 2006 world cup history book, England went out in the quarter finals to Portugal, and Wayne Rooney was sent off.
the story ends............. next chaper 2010.

If someone deliberately stepped on your crotch, would *you* want him to get off with a warning or a yellow? And it wasn't just that: there was the temper, the pushing, the yelling...Rooney asked for it, and punished the English team because he couldn't control himself. Though I don't really think that was why you're out of the World Cup, it was a combination of factors including the PKs England missed.

Rooney deserved everything he got, I have heard Ronaldo talked to Rooney when the entered the stadion, but strangely, Christiano doesn't speak English. Rooney even kicked the groin of the Portuguese player, very fair .....
He deserved the red card!!!

NO WAY
The Referee was a cheat. He should have blown and penalised the two portuguese players for ambushing him either side.
The Ref let it go on too long..
Shame that Wayne put his foot where he did and shame that RONALDO is a wnkr.
I hope Wayne nuts him when they get back to Man U.
Oh and FRANCE will stuff Portugal if they play like they did against Brasil tonight.
Lastly: RONALDO does speak ENGLISH. He has been at Manchester United long enough, and English is taught as basic in Portuguese schools. Who ever says he cannot speak English is deluded.

no he definantly didn't deserve the red. it looked like he got caught up and his foot didn't land there on purpose. also the little push to ronaldo maybe deserved a yellow for unsportmanlike conduct but not a full out red. rooney does have a temper and who knows if england would have won, they could have advanced....maybe even win their first cup since what...1966 or something? oh well too late now....

Yes he deserved sending off , just because his game is going bad dont give him the right to stamp on another player and no it wasn't his fault england lost the chance of raising the cup, at the end of the day the better team one and im british maybe with a better coach and if they try harder next year we will bring it home.....

He is not guilty for not winning. But yes he diserved the card, he clearly stumped into Ricardo Carvalo's private parts and after that he pushed cristiano ronaldo all infront of the ref . Although, I think that the referi was going to give him a yellow but with the incident with Ronaldo he spoiled it and the ref had no option.
