Its an suv, and contrary to a prior answer, they actually get extremely impressive mileage. The suburbans are basically based on the pickup chassis, with, as said before, an enclosed area for storage and passengers. I had a 96 4x4 suburban with the vortec 350, and I never got under 20 mpg, and usually got 22 on the freeway. Truck also had nearly 200K miles on it when I sold it. They're great trucks, with very low maintenance costs if thye're taken care of. Just my .02

It is now a Chevrolet product, SUV but it was also a GMC product many years ago. Both Chevrolet and GMC are owned by General Motors.
The Suburban is the first and longest running SUV. It started in the 1930's by enclosing the bed of a work pick up truck.

it isn't a car its a LARGE suv. It is a 4 door enclosed bed truck like a Chevy Tahoe or Cadillac Escalade only it is longer and heavier duty.

surburhan is from Chevy model with more heavy and longer of trunk. Their trunk is longer than Tahoe's trunk. Both are in third row seats.
