Following a geological theory, I should think the Earth has substantially less mass than in "its beginning" simply due to the chunk of mass lost when the Moon was ripped from the planet.

Aside from that, inputs from space have added and are adding mass, so it is likely that the Earth is continually gaining mass since very little mass is ever lost to space.

However, in regards to your proposed theory, you forget the basic law of conservation of matter. All creatures are simply part of the total mass, so more or less births is irrelevant since it's the same Earth matter being recycled.

Who said most people have more than one child? If it were not for immigration, the United States would decrease in population because couples are not having enough children to replace themselves. China is infamous for only allowing a couple to have one child. As to whether or not the earth is heavier than it was billions of years ago, it's not like it's going to fall out of the sky or something.

Well, consider that people and animals are made OF the Earth, the weight just changes forms...from chemical to organic...no difference in weight. But, you have a point. The Earth gains mass from Cosmic dust, meteorites, etc. each year. I doubt that anyone could weigh the small difference compared to the whole mass, but yes, the Earth gains a little mass each year, assuming that no mass escapes into space...and it does. Everytime we send a rocket into space, that is weight that will not come back.

Sorry, but the raw material of the earth has just shifted from rock to people. Occasional asteroid collisions aside, the earth will always have the same mass and weight.
