Ok, I have a friend who is getting back together with her ex-boyfriend who is bad for her. He is extremely abusive and controlling. However, she is not an American citizen and her parents live in another state so she feels that he is her best chance for a bright future, citizenship, etc. I feel like she should not settle for someone who is bad for her and should not rely on a man to take care of her. I think she should save her money, apply for citizenship, and work hard to take care of herself. She should not let her situation limit herself and her future. I also don't want to stop being her friend but it is hard to stand by and watch her throw her life away. Also, when she is with this guy, she turns into a lying, pathetic person because he controls her and won't let her be with her friends. What should I do? Do you think she can do better? Does she have a chance for a future without this guy? Any advice would be greatly appreciated? Thanks!!

Try to explain to her that he is not good for her and if she does not listen that will be her fought because you tried to tell her and if she does not let this man go she is not going to a future because if does not stop she is going to end you hurt or DEAD!!!

This is a hard one -- getting rid of an abusive guy is something that she has to decide to do -- what you can do is sit her down and tell her exactly how you feel, and tell her that you will be there for her if she needs your support to break away.

If she ever seems like she wants to hurt herself, or is suicidal, you can step in more forcefully and get her help. She will hate you at teh time but it will be worth it. Good luck!

I think you are a good friend. But she ultimately needs to make the choice. Be there either way. Maybe show her ways she can take care of herself.

Your advice is correct. If this guy is abusive, physically or emotionally, she will be reducing her future to almost zilch.

i know it may not be easy but tell her how you feel. Tell her how you feel about her boyfriend and how you'll always be there for her. Tell her that she's not alone. Make her see what you see in him. Let her know that she can make it on her own. She might just be afraid but let her know your there for her always.

She obviously knows how you feel. Please don't abandon her because of her poor choices. Be there if she falls. Good luck.
