It's not that he's dumb, it's that to some he's adorable. I was in 7th grade and a lot of 7th grade girls had Spongebob on their notebooks. He's almosat like a plush toy. But Homer Simpson isn't smart but people like him. Beavis and Butthead aren't exactly lightbulbs either but a loooot of people liked them. It's a cartoon qand people seem to like cartoons if they are either funny or cute or both.

I think it is his simplistic and cheerful way of looking at life that makes us relax. If you are talking about the show in general, my favorite part is the way the parallels between earth and sea, and the way the sea creatures try to live just like us. Besides that, I think we are all just naturally drawn to the bright, bright yellow.

Because after a long day of hard thought it is nice to stare at a screen with a yellow sponge on it and not have to think to enjoy it.

I don't know either, the show drives me crazy but my husband and son can sit and watch it... there is adult humor in the shows as well you just have to listen for it but I dont know why people like it so much, probably like a phase like beavis and butthead...they were stupid to..
