we should be able to work from home. This would save energy. We should start to think in terms of how much enegy it takes to get things done instead of how much it costs.

Not everyone does work a 40 hour week. Some work more or less. Some people work from home part-time or all of the time.

You should consider yourself lucky if you are working forty hours a week. One of the problems with the working poor is that many low wage workers do not only not get the hourly wage they need, they also do not get the hours they need in order to survive.

Western European countries which are more influenced by the labour movement have been able to cut back the average work week to 32 hours a week. However, you need to consider this: if you are currently working at $10 per hour at 40 hours a week, would you be able to survive at $10 an hour at 32 hours a week, or would you feel the need to find yourself a second job to survive?

I'm going to make your day. You should be a happy person, because (1) a person does not need to work 40 hours a week, and (2) you have the freedom to work at home.

You have all these options. You don't need to work at all if you don't want to. You don't even need to work at home, but can watch cartoons or play on line games if you like. America is wonderful with the gifts of freedom it gives. Rejoice. Smile. Celebrate and begin monday with a whole new plan.

I agree that the work days are getting ridiculously long, for some a 40 hr work week is a vacation (my husband drives a truck and is gone 5 days a week or more) I always thought we were supposed to work for a living, not living for work.

To survive for starters.

You can work from home if you have the right job to do so. But, there are so many corrupted networks out here today that promises you thousands of dollars if you become a consultant for this or that. Be careful, only ones that make it on those businesses are those that thought of it. Its a pyramid and they don't want to admit it. Pyramids are illegal!!!

I disagree; a forty hour work week make us productive. Germany is switching back to a 32 hour work week from a 28. Why? Because they were not competitive on the world market.

until eventually you've a contract that mainly states or you paintings even as needed, how a lot as needed.... as others have defined you could document for unemployment and if the help in hours isn't your fault, and also you qualify for advantages you would possibly want to manage to draw partial unemployment....

Who made 40 hours the standard. It's a idea. Pay the same but only work 32. This idea of working 40 hour is made up. The part time employers have no intrest in making America great. Employers have been allowed to cheat there workers. Most of these employers (oweners) are billionairs. They work people part time so they don't have to pay any benefit's. These workers have to apply for help from the government. America is subsidising these workers so the owners can get rich.
