There is a question in voting asking what is Mexico's independence day. Yahoo voters are choosing 5 de Mayo rather than the correct 16th of September. Does that make it so? Will Mexico have to change its independence day to 5 de Mayo since Yahoo answerers say it is so? All I can say is "que verguenza!"

yes it is it is the day Mexico was declared free if it wasn't for Cinco De Mayo Mexico would be part of the U.S.

No, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence Day. Many think it is, however. I believe you are correct in saying it is the 16th of Sept.

Cinco de Mayo is the victory at the Battle of the Pueblo.

Just another reason to celebrate.
