"Instead, in 4–5 billion years, it will enter a red giant phase, its outer layers expanding as the hydrogen fuel in the core is consumed and the core contracts and heats up... Recent research suggests that mass lost from the Sun earlier in its red giant phase will cause the Earth's orbit to move further out, preventing it from being engulfed. However, Earth's water and most of the atmosphere will be boiled away."

It's is never SUPPOSED to end, but if a meteor weighing approximately 190,234 pounds and 13 yards in diameter hits the earth at 48º 51' 32" latitude and 002º 17' 45" longitude (right on the eiffel tower) It will push the eiffel tower down to the center of the earth then it will keep going. When it is going through the center of the earth, all the volcanoes in the world will erupt. There will also be one extra where the eiffel tower made a hole going in to the earth. All of the lava will melt us all. Then it will harden and form an extra layer on the Earth. The Eiffel tower will stop at the exact middle of the mantle. Since the mantle left a path to the center of the earth and the top where it went down is covered and there is no way out of the center of the Earth. Since the material of the Eiffel Tower is what it is, It will have a reaction with the lava and will get so much pressure built up inside the Earth. It will have to blow up the Earth into exactly 9,484,327,494 pieces. This will all happen in exactly 3.47227483283802 years.

According to the Mayans it is supposed to end on December 25 in the year 2020. The mayans also believed that there is a portal to a new world that opens up at the end of the world. Some experts believe that the reason that the Mayans disappeared so suddenly is that they are right and they jumped through the portal.

There is not an specific date when the world will end but it will. Also the literal world will never end but the people in it will. However only the bad people that are doing crimes and committing excessive sins. It will be very soon when that will happen though. I am not trying to scare u or convert u at all into my religion. In fact it is not all about religion but it will answer ur question more specifically. Read it. It is not for religious purposes, it is just to answer ur question more specifically.

some major stuff is supposed to go down between 2010 and 2020... but the World, as in the Earth etc, will outlive us by a long shot. We're like a thin rash on the earth's surface. And the universe has a loooooong ways to go

Some place in time I found that the world will end in the year 7000. At that time the sun is suppose to become a red giant and expand, consuming the earth and all else in our solar system....

The world can't end it can only change. All matter no matter what it is, is only energy spinning & vibrating at different rates, & forging together to make the illusion of solid matter. This is not rubbish or new it is quantum psyhics, put solid matter under & powerful microscope & you can drive & truck between the molecules. ( proven by Albert Einstein & many since ). That's why you change as you get older, as your energies slow down or speed up & as other energies mix with yours. There's lots more but the fact is that world as we know it will change but it will always be there.

Since this question is categorized under geology, the answer should be a geological answer and not theological or religious.
The earth is now supposedly 4.5 billion years old and our sun has another 4.5 billion years or so before it supernovas (blows up) and destroys all life on the surface of the earth and turns earth into cinder. There may be other external threats like wandering planets, huge asteroids, and so on.
Internally, earth faces the possibility not of destruction so much as the end of civilization and much of life on the surface, from things like a supervolcano (Yellowstone) that obliterates sunlight and creates famine and ice, some supervirus that kills us all from disease, the earth maybe warming up so much from climate change that life on the surface is impossible, and so on.

In about 5 billion years our sun will become a white dwarf. During this process the earth will be consumed by a expanding sun before the sun becomes a white dwarf. Between now and then we will be impacted by several large space objects 5 miles or greater in diameter. They will not destroy the earth, but the will cause massive extinctions. Not to worry.....we won't see any of these events.

Ok...your gonna hate me for this.
In about five billion years. Of course by the time the Earth ceases to exist, the conditions here will resemble Mercury since the sun will have entered the last stages of its life and destabalized so that it's outter shell expands faster than gravity can pull it back in.
Of course we will either be dead or out of this system by then.
At least I hope so.
