Yes - It is okay to laugh when your fish diesTeats up is what we call it in the industry. I own an operate "Aqua Memorial Gardens" the premiere fish funeral home in the world. We have buried many notable Marine life such as: Flipper, Mr. Limpett, Orca and even her recently Willie. Yes Willie is finally free. Added cost relating to size will be charged. If you are on a tight budget we also have an economy burial aptly called the Porcelain Ride to the After Life. So the next time your fish is on the top of the tank or is teats up give us a call at 1-800-DED-FISH- laugh your fishes memory away.

I guess it depends on the person and how the fish died. Some people laugh instead of cry. It's a way to cope. Then there's the idiots who laugh because we care so much about 'a fish'. Those people irritate me. I'd like to laugh at them when their parents die.
I once had a neon tetra jump out of my tank and fry itself on my baseboard heater during winter. I laugh about it because it was a really stupid (and funny) way to die. Yet I do miss the fish and wish it could have lived a bit longer... in the tank ^.^ .

No, if you cared then you wouldn't laugh but if you laugh then you shouldn't of had the fish in the first place.

I love my fish and it would hurt my feelings if my fish died and my friend laughed. I thought my fish was sick one time and I was so depressed because I thought it was going to die.

Yes - If you are asking this just to get a rise out of people on the internet.
No - If you feel guilty
You see the fish didn't care; it was dead.

That's kinda rude! At least wait a day or two before laughing. Geez!
I guess it's alright for as long as your fish didn't hear it, (or get offended by it). Lucky it's dead or you would certainly owe it an apology for that faux pas.

Sure, laughter is a response to something you find funny. When fish die, they float around...that's funny. Make sure to laugh out loud as you flush it down the drain!

i did AFTER it died..like the day after...i accidentally changed the water and put in really hot water and i fried it. i was really scared at first..but then i was like...wow..i just totally boiled my fish. total blonde moment. my fish now (i have a betta) is having swim bladder problems and wont eat the food i have so i am (probobly) just going to flush it so i dont have to witness it dieing. i am NEVER getting a betta again. they scare the crap out of me!! but ,ironically, i am not scared of hermit crabs (hence my name, KrabbyKayla) what really scares me about them (bettas) is that they freak out at every move you make and mine now just floats (not dead) on the water against the glass, and i have to scare it in order for me to make sure its not dead yet. i think i will be better off with hermit crabs, any ways..and the betta tank will work as an ISO (isolation tank) very nicely for when they molt and stuff...i just totally got off topic...SORRY!!!
i also have dreams about my tank that its in..having more than one betta in it and my betta dieing..its kinda freaky...

I wouldn't say it's okay to laugh, but if you don't really care that's okay. Just flush 'em and leave it at that!
