The gothic period stretched over a period of about 600 years ending in the reign of King Henry VIII. There were many changes in this peiod, so the modern goth is not an accurate representatiion.
If you like the lifestyle of modern goths, go for it. They are different and difference is good. At least you won;t be conforming to te standards the people here would like. I envy you in that you have the opportunity to do it.

Go live in Europe. There's lots of old castles and I've even of a "depressed" attitude in a lot of places. The modern gothic is very much different from the historical gothic and I don't think you totally have a grip of the midevil times in which people had to exist under feudal landlords who could kick you off your land any minute and force you to starve in the wilderness.

why would anyone want to live in a world where everything is the same? can u imagine how boring that would be? Individuality is the heart of our country. If everyone was to be the same, God would have created it that way...and you don't want to mess with the His plans do you?

I think convention is boring. We have the ability to imagine our own worlds. Problem is people are too caught up in this one.
