what if left is really right and right is really left, not that it might matter much, just a thought.

Left and right are abstract concepts, they don't really have meaning. I looked up left in the dictionary once and it was defined as "the side of the body on which the heart is usually located". I've also heard it defined in terms of how magnetic fields deflect electrons. Since they are arbitrary concepts we have to define them with arbitrary examples.

lol this is a very simple question to answer! or is it? this is the thing, right is right, and left is left, because somewhere when people were learning words, and putting words to things, objects thoughts, or whatever the case may be, they chose to "assign" the word right or left, which at that time word may not have been known for what it is known as now, to what we now all call right, and left. therefore, we know right is right, because its been that way since as long as we can imagine. That, and the whole world goes by that, so thats that. Honestly, right isnt right, and left isnt left, they are really only different by their shape and looks. Assigning a word to something that is similiar, but in a different spot, seems silly to me, but think about this. I ponder this question myself at times......... Who said that grass was green, and the sky was blue. Who made the word sky, and decided that the word blue, was what the sky was? or vise versa with the grass? what if the grass was called red?

Well if right is really left and left is really right then left must be from the left and right to the left but then of course left could be left and right could be to the left but really from the right but then left could also be right....Right?

why is a fork a fork, spoon a spoon? over time humans created names for things (or directions)
generally based on its conotation (how it sounds compared to what it represents)
What seems or sounds right? A fork- sharper sounding word for an edgier shaped object. Spoon- smoother sounding, smoother rounded shaped object. As for Right and Left, could be anything, there could be a small interconnected relationship for why left is left and right right.

Hold up both of your hands, and fold all but the forefinger and thumb. Does one side form the letter "L"? That's the LEFT. That's how you know for sure.

Right is right, and left is left because we have accepted it as fact. As our truth.

We don't - just like the "lap" it is a construct that humanity has created to give reason to the world.

I've personally always been challenged by this. I think saying, "Go that way," and pointing is much easier.
