People are mutating all the time. Just depends on your definition of mutation.

the radiation of our sun causes us to change slightly from one generation to the next. There are other factors which cause us to mutate (i.e., better nutrition makes us taller and stronger).

We would mutate even more if we adapted to our environment instead of adapting our environment to ourselves.

Now do I think there will be mutants such as they have on the X-Men movies? No, those changes are too radical to occur naturally.

There are human mutations; we call them birth defects. Of course, many of them are not viable at all, and are miscarried. But people are born with birth defects periodically.

I have not seen X-Men, so I don't know the reference there.

The thing you have to remember about mutations -- that is, really significant differences from the norm -- is that they are usually either not fertile (that is, can't have children at all) or the defect is the result of an accident, and is not passed on to the children. Occasionally, especially in isolated populations, you might have enough in-breeding to maintain a mutation. I understand there is an isolated population somewhere whose feet are very different; claw-shaped almost, and this variation is passed on to their children.

Hey,
Human mutation happens all of the time. It is what is responsible for our differences like, hmm, well like blue eyes or brown or green.
Will humans ever develop super powers? It is possible, but very unlikely, and for many people to turn up with them at the same time, is so unlikely that it could be considered impossible. :)

YES! That would be so freakin cool! I would love to become Mystique, she was the greatest character on X-Men and it really pisses me off that they got rid of her powers! Damn it! Oh yeah, and my boyfriend would be Juggernaut, He's awesome too!

X-Men has about as much knowledge and respect of the evolutionary theory as Kent Hovind (which isn't very much).
