No. Hives are the sign of a problem, usually an allergy.
If the baby is breastfed, the mother can try removing *all* dairy from her diet for at least 2 weeks. (Be careful to read package labels and avoid all foods with whey, casein, and any ingredient with a "lact" in it!!)
If the baby is getting artificial milk, it's harder. About half of all babies who are allergic to dairy are also allergic to soy, and if the baby is eating the food directly (as opposed to via the mother's milk), the risks are higher...

Depends on your definition of hives. LOTS of babies have heat rashes and now is the perfect time to get them. Then there is also "Roseola". It is characterized by a red hivey looking rash. Do a pic search on it and compare. Then there is the "newborn" rash that nearly all newborns get but look more like tons of whiteheads. Try benadryl. It will help with the hives if it is an allergic reaction and will help baby sleep.

Are you thinking of newborn rash?
Most babies will develop what looks like tiny "insect bites" on their bodies shortly after birth. This is caused by the pores in the skin not being open at first. This causes the bodys' natural moisturizers to push up, and cause a little reddened area with a tiny whitish pinpoint in the center. These will take care of themselves. Don't try to "pop" them, or get rid of them with some treatment or the other for acne. That's not what they are. They also are not hives. Newborn rash is just one on many transitional changes their bodies go through after being born.

My chilDren had lots of rashes from diaper rash to baby acne but never hives. I think you need to talk to your dr. it could even be a reaction to his formula a baby can develop an allergy at any time to something that he/she has been fine with before. I know from experience that hives are not fun so good luck.

The only time my son gets hives is when he's getting an allergic reactiion to food. Give your baby 1/4 teaspoon benadryl and take him to the doctor. This could be a serious reaction.

Not all babies have hives. If your baby has hives it might be because it is allergic to something or maybe just because it has a rash! If your child does have a rash or is allergic to something good luck!

Babies should not have hives at all. They sometimes have rashes down there. Not hives. Take him to another doctor.

no, apparently the baby is allergic to something, you really need to get the baby checked out at the emergency room, or the doctor as soon as possible to find out what is causing the hives.
Not to scare you or anything, but if the baby is allergic to something that it is getting hives from, it could go into anaphylactic shock, and stop breathing, etc, so the sooner you get it checked out the better
