Indiana Beach amusment park in Monticello, IN,. The Dunes state park, which you can use the Shouth Shore R.R. to get to. You could also drive to Port Clinton, Ohio. the area around there is called "Ohio's Vacationland" or something similar. Put there is the Deer Park, Monsoon Lagoon, the jet express to Put-in-Bay, African Safari, Cedar Point, and many other amusment parks in that area. Detroit has 3 or 4 casinos if you're into that, so does Michigan City, IN.

90 miles to the West is Rockford, Illinois. Great things to do. Water parks, shopping, good restaurants, Anderson Japanese Gardens, Khlem Arboretum, trolley rides along the Rock River, fantastic golf courses and 2 huge antique malls are just a few of the things to do.
Over Labor Day week-end they have a huge festival with wonderful top name performers! Waterfront.
Enjoy whichever destination you choose.

I agree with G_L this is the best place if you have no where else. Is Branson, Missouri too far? It's nice also. Wishing you a safe trip.
