so the people in leadership roles take care of the little guy, right? so why would a mayor have to spend 85 million to get his constituents to vote for him if he is so good for them? here's a story:

Whoa... that is a whole lotta money, mann. I am sure many of us can think of better use for all that cash!

Going back to your question, any community irrespective of where in the world, can most definitely benefit from an injection of 85 million dollars. Where ever you have people living you will need good infrastructure, so that should be the area to be tackled first. People need housing, water, electricity, roads, health service, educational system, and the list goes on.

Yes, the money can go a long way. Perhaps the constituents who voted for him should take him to task?

A lot. But it WAS his money, not public money. And if you are an idealist, that makes him one af very few politicians free of any special interest groups. In theory, he's governing outside of political influence.

If he was smart, he would have invested the money and only use the interest earned to buy his votes. Then he could have secured his position for years.
