I live in the S.F. Bay Area and want to take my mom on a trip because she has always wanted to see how the Amish live. Anyone want to visit the Bay? I would say that the best time to visit would be between May and September.

If you're looking to see some Amish folks, Pennsylvania has some really nice color in the fall. Cool afternoons and chilly evenings in later fall. If you travel to PA in the summer, it can get outright hot. Winters can be pretty harsh, too, with some snow usually falling periodically after the new year through Mid-March. Spring is a great time to visit, with nice weather and a lot of flowers in bloom, but Fall really can't be beat.

Well I live in New york State about 5 miles from the Penn border and there are many Amish families around the country side. Now as far as the best time of year would depend on if you want to see snow then come between November and March. If you want to see flowers bloom then come around may and June is when most of the spring flowers are out just bring a coat to wear because it still gets a little cold, well lets say it doesn't get much above 50 or 60 during the day and around 30 at night. June, July and August are the months with the warmest temperature. October is when the leaves are turning colors. So it would depend on what else you would like to see while you are here.

Leaf season, around October but you need to carefully work out the dates for the specific locale you want to visit. Search Google for estimated times (try http://www.pavisnet.com/pafall/ )
