Logarithmic functions are the inverses of exponential functions.

The function y = log(x) is the inverse of the function y = 10^x

log(x) means "the power that you raise 10 to to get x"

When log is written without a subscript, it is understood that the base is 10. You can have logs with other bases as well. For example log base 3 of 81 = 4 because 3^4 =81. (This is written log3(81) with the 3 as a subscript.)

A logarithmic function is any function with a logarithmic term involved in it. Something like log(x^2+y^2). For your reference there are basically five types of function. Logarithmic, Inverse, Algebraic, Trig and exponential. Each type is having a term of the type the name suggests. There can be another type called hybrid functions with more than one function involved.

Y is measured in deci-Bell(dB) while (I) represents the sound intensity measured in Watts per square meter [Wm^(-2)] & (K) represents a constant sound intensity known as the THREASHOLD OF HEARING, K = 10^(-12) Watts per square meter.

EX: Increasing the wattage (power output of a radio or speakers) by 10 times will increase the loudness by 2 times.
